So I’m gonna be honest here. I’ve never ran or done anything with a blog, so bear with me as I figure out how to play the “blogger” roll!
Now that I have the website set up its time to get started on the webcomic! I’ve already gotten several comic pages of script done, and even a nice dummy cover for the first “issue”. Its just all about buckling down and actually working more on fleshing out the script.
The idea for Lovisa the mermaid has always been a naive personality, but the more I go through the writing process the less I like that arche-type. I will be keeping elements from it though. The Renegade Mermaid will start out fairly early on in Lovisa’s career, which means that she hasn’t been away from her homeworld long. All of the new planets, technology, and people will still befuddle her; but Lovisa isn’t an “idiot”. She’s just ignorant.
Her homeworld technology is pretty unique, I really want it to be “alien” in it’s underworld merfolk society. This lets me give Lovisa all kinds of surprises as she tries to learn the basic sci-fi technology like anti-grav, warp drive, and even lasers. I mean, why would you need anti-grav in a completely underwater planet? That would be just silly.
Though I haven’t landed on a name for Lovisa’s homeworld. I always liked conceptual words for planet names, especially the “important” ones so we’ll see where that goes as I work more of her planet’s structure out.
